New York State Clean Fueled Bus Grants Announced September 2004The Westchester County Department of Transportation is part of the state's Clean-Fueled Bus Program that will be receiving funding from Albany.The county will receive up to $800,000 for two projects to purchase five hybrid electric buses. Westchester, Broome County Transit and the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority are part of a hybrid bus purchasing consortium developed by the new York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the state Department of Transportation. So far, the Clean Fuel Bus program has provided more than $28 million to municipalities and local transit agencies to assist with the purchase of 563 hybrid electric and compressed natural gas buses throughout the state. | ||
