Hybrid Cars a Hit in Hollywood April 2005Higher-mileage cars seem to have ascended to trendy status in Hollywood.A Los Angeles-area counseling center announced Thursday it will be raffling a new Lexus sport-utility vehicle at a May 18 charity event in Beverly Hills, but the prize is one of the automaker's new hybrid vehicles rather than one of the huge gas-guzzlers that have been "en vogue" in recent years. The 2006 Lexus RX 400h power train features two electric motors combined with a conventional 3.3 liter V6 that the automaker says gives the SUV the mileage of small compact cars that just don't have the glitz normally associated with Beverly Hills. A Beverly Hills Lexus dealer donated the vehicle to The Maple Counseling Center event to be held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. SOURCE: Washington Times | ||
