Honda Hybrids Pass 100,000 in Sales May 2005Worldwide sales of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) petrol electric cars have past the 100,000 mark in the six years since launch. To date, America has been the biggest market for Honda's clean air vehicles, accounting for almost 90% of Honda's global hybrid sales: last year the company sold more than 27,000 Insight, Civic and Accord IMAs in America alone. In Europe, sales are around 4,000 per year, half of which are sold in the UK. To emphasise the car's durability, Honda UK has bought back a privately owned Insight which has covered over 100,000 miles on its original drivetrain and battery pack. The car is being demonstrated to the press as proof of the longevity of the design. SOURCE: Reuters | ||
